New music Monday! Check out the latest singles from City of Sound!

band City of Sound onstage performing in Los Angeles

How about some new music for you on this Memorial Day Monday?

As I mention in my “About Me” section, I love music. It’s an art, a form of expression, a form of release and therapy, it can even be considered a universal language, bringing people from many different backgrounds together with a mutual connection to and love for the music. I’ve always found music to be an important tool for my acting as well, using it to get in touch with various emotions required for the scene or material I’m working on.

My musical taste is fairly wide-ranging, from classical to hard rock, to hip-hop and some rap. I like it all! I also enjoy finding new music and artists that I resonate with so today I’m going to share an indie band with you that I really enjoy, and maybe you’ll enjoy them too.

So check out my friends City of Sound! I’ve heard their sound described as a mix between Muse and a little Coldplay but their self-categorization as epic cinematic rock is pretty spot on. They’re a completely self-produced indie band, not an easy flag to fly in the music world where the pressure is high to sign with labels and give up one’s autonomy in exchange for promises of more exposure and money. Coming from the acting world myself where I’m subject to many of the same pressures to change or mold myself to meet other’s expectations in order to have easier access to jobs, I understand and respect anyone who stays true to themselves and their own vision, despite outside pressures. I truly think City of Sound will defy the odds and prove that you don’t need to sign with big labels or conform to others’ ideas of what you should be in order to be successful, and as you know, that’s what I’m all about—defying the odds daily. Proud to consider myself a fan!

"As the sun lights the day and my body's laid to rest, in peace I can proclaim that I fought to the death, and waged war." -- City of Sound, "Wasteland"

You can keep up with the band on their website and social media accounts. Their music is available on virtually all the major platforms, Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, etc. They just released “Rivers of Eden,” and their new song “Aurora” literally just dropped today! So head over to your favorite music platform and give them a listen!
